Abstract-noun suffixes and their spelling

Textbook: p. 129
GoalKnow and spell abstract-noun suffixes.
New words
-lik (quality) · -lik-inch (feeling) · -inchadjective · sifat
Explanation

-lik is the most productive suffix; it forms abstract nouns from adjectives and nouns: yaxshilik (goodness), go‘zallik (beauty), do‘stlik (friendship), birodarlik (brotherhood), tinchlik (peace). It is always joined to the stem and is written -lik, not -liq. From verbs, -ch and -inch form abstract nouns of feeling or state: sevinch (joy; sev+inch), qo‘rqinch (fear), ishonch (trust; ishon+ch), tayanch (support). Which verb takes which suffix depends on the word itself, so learn them with the word: sev+inch, qo‘rq+inch, but ishon+ch, tayan+ch.

Worked examples
