Explanation

Verbs made of a pair of verbs, answering one question and acting as one sentence part are paired verbs: oldi-qo‘ydi, ketdi-qoldi, yozdi-qo‘ydi, sindi-qoldi. Paired verbs express a quick and unexpected action. Their parts are always written with a hyphen. Paired verbs formed by repeating a stem are also called repeated verbs: ishlay-ishlay (working and working), kuta-kuta (waiting and waiting), o‘yladi-o‘yladi (thought and thought). Their parts are also hyphenated. Pairs like oldi-berdi and bordi-keldi have passed into the noun class: oldi-berdi (dealings, trade).

Worked examples
