Textbook: p. 81
GoalCompare types of transport: “The best transport is …” with superlatives.
New words
transport · transportcaravan · karvoncomfortable · qulaydangerous · xavfli
Explanation
Types of transport: car, tram, bus, bicycle, metro, train, plane, ship, helicopter, boat. Adjectives: fast, slow, good, bad, clean, dirty, cheap, expensive, healthy, dangerous, comfortable. Superlatives: “Planes are the fastest transport.” “The bicycle is the cheapest and the healthiest.” “The metro is the most comfortable in a big city.” (long adjective: the most). Opinion: “The best transport is the bicycle because it is cheap and healthy.” From history: for many years camels were the only transport in the desert. Caravans carried goods between Central Asia (Samarkand, Bukhara) and Europe. A camel could carry about 200 kilos and walk about 30 kilometres a day, so people called camels the “ships of the desert”.
Worked examples
“The best transport”. Which transport is the best? Planes are the fastest, but they are expensive. Bicycles are the cheapest and the healthiest, but they aren’t good for long trips. Trains are comfortable and not dangerous. In the past, caravans of camels carried silk and spices across the desert, and people called camels “the ships of the desert”.
