Project: write a fairy tale

Textbook: p. 77
GoalProject: write your own fairy tale from a plan and illustrate it.
New words
beginning · boshlanishmain part · asosiy qismending · tugashcaption · rasm yozuvi
Explanation

Fairy-tale plan: 1) Beginning — “Once upon a time …” (character and place); 2) Main part — “Then …”, “After that …” (problem and action); 3) Ending — “From that time on …” (the result). Use the Past Simple for events and the Past Continuous for the scene: “The fox was sitting by the lake when he saw the moon.” Think of a title. Draw a picture and write a caption (a short note) under it. Swap with another group: 1) read the tale and give it a title; 2) draw a picture; 3) write a caption. Check mistakes: -ed, irregular verbs, was/were, did/didn’t.

Worked examples
“The golden apple”. Once upon a time there lived a poor gardener. He had one tree, and it gave golden apples. One day a thief came at night. A little bird saw him and began to sing loudly. The gardener woke up and caught the thief. After that he gave the thief a job in the garden. From that time on the garden had two friends and a lot of golden apples.
Caption: The bird sang and the gardener woke up.
Class activity
