GoalFamily tree project: write and speak about family members and their jobs.
New words
family tree · oila daraxtimarried · turmush qurganretired · pensiyadagipianist · pianinochi
Explanation
For the project draw a family tree: grandparents at the top, parents in the middle, you at the bottom. For each person write the name, relationship, job and one interesting fact. Use the Present Simple for regular things (“He works in a hospital”) and the Present Continuous for things happening now (“He is working now”). Do not forget the possessive: my grandfather’s name. To ask: “What does your father do?” — here we use does and the verb has no -s. Present your tree to the class in 5–6 sentences.
Worked examples
“My family tree”. My grandfather’s name is Karim. He is a retired teacher. My father Rustam is an engineer and my mother Nodira is a doctor. I have one sister, Laylo. She wants to be a pianist, so she practises every day.
— What does your mother do? — She’s a doctor. — Does she work in a hospital? — Yes, she does. — Is she working now? — No, she isn’t.
Class activity
“Family tree gallery”: the trees go on the wall. Pupils walk around asking “Who is this? What does he do?” and take notes.
