Explanation
Independent words have their own meaning, answer a question and act as a part of the sentence. By their question and meaning they are divided into word classes: noun, adjective, numeral, pronoun, verb, adverb. A noun names a person, thing or place and answers the questions kim? (who?), nima? (what?), qayer? (where?). Nouns are used in singular and plural and take possessive and case suffixes. For example, «maktab» (school) answers nima?, and in the form «maktabimizda» (in our school) it has possessive and case suffixes.
Worked examples
Kim? — o‘quvchi (pupil), shifokor (doctor). Nima? — daftar (notebook), daryo (river). Qayer? — bog‘ (garden), shahar (city).
My little brother took an interesting book from the library. (Nouns: ukam, kutubxona, kitob.)
Class activity
“Question basket”: the teacher says a word and children quickly name its question and word class.
