WordArt and making a title page
Textbook: pp. 64–65
GoalInsert a WordArt object, add a page border and make a title page in two ways.
New words
decorative text with special styles · WordArttitle page: the first page of a document or report · sarvaraq (titul)page border: a frame around the page · hoshiya chizig‘i (ramka)template: a ready-made design to fill in · shablon
Explanation
WordArt is an object that makes decorative lettering (Word – text, Art – art). It is found on the Insert tab: choose a style, type the text, then change font, colour and size. A page border is added from Design → Page Borders, where you choose line style, colour and width or a picture frame. A title page is the first page of a document. It can be made in two ways: from a ready template under Insert → Cover Page, or by yourself with page colour, a border and WordArt. A title page usually shows the school, the title of the work (for example PROJECT WORK), the author and checker, the city and the year. Use decoration in moderation: too many colours and shapes make the text hard to read.
Worked examples
A project title page: a border, “NATURE DIARY” large in WordArt in the middle, and below “Done by: ...”, “Checked by: ...”, the city and the year.
A notice for a book fair: “Book Fair” in WordArt, a coloured border, and the date, time and place in the middle.
Class activity
“Best title page”: groups make a notebook cover page; the class rates readability, tidiness and colour harmony.
