Test and its analysis
Textbook: p. 124
GoalTest on sentences with homogeneous and set-off parts and its analysis.
New words
test · nazorat ishianalysis · tahlilpunctuation mark · tinish belgisilogical error · mantiqiy xato
Explanation
In the test the pupil finds homogeneous parts and determines their function in the sentence, tells a simple sentence with homogeneous predicates from a compound one, places the colon and dash correctly in sentences with a generalizing word, finds set-off explanatory parts and shows that they are separated on both sides by commas or dashes. After the work, an analysis is held: errors are grouped by punctuation, incorrect adding of formative suffixes and wrong identification of the part. For each error the rule is recalled and a new example made. Ask yourself: do these parts answer the same question? Do they depend on the same sentence part?
Worked examples
Error analysis: “Keldi, ko‘rdi, yutdi” — the form is on every predicate, so it is a compound sentence, not homogeneous predicates.
Punctuation: “Uch xil meva: olma, nok va uzum pishdi” — generalising word first, colon after it; “Olma, nok, uzum — hammasi pishdi” — generalising word last, dash before it.
Class activity
Error bank: each pupil writes one error from their work to the class bank; they are corrected together.
Practice
1
Find the homogeneous parts in “Dadam kitob, daftar va qalam olib keldi”.
Kitob, daftar, qalam — homogeneous objects.
2
Which marks go in: Uch fan fizika, kimyo, biologiya qiziq.
Uch fan: fizika, kimyo, biologiya qiziq. (Generalizing word first — colon.)
3
Name the set-off part in “Ukam, yetti yoshli bola, maktabga bordi”.
“Yetti yoshli bola” — set-off apposition.
4
Analyze one of your errors; write the rule and a new example.
The answer depends on the pupil’s error: error, rule, new example.
