Explanation

The extract has two parts: “Hukmnoma” and “Maktub”. In the first a woman comes to the qushbegi with a petition, excitedly hands over a folded paper and asks him to read it quickly. The second is Yusufbek hoji’s letter to his kinsman. In it the hoji speaks politely and with respect about his son Otabek’s second marriage and expresses trust that the kinsman will agree. The letter is written in a respectful-formal style: many phrases such as “birodari kirom”, “muhtaram”. Pick out the words denoting features (mehribon, yolg‘iz, aziz) in the text, find their synonyms and identify figurative words.
