Explanation

In this lesson the simple sentence is reviewed: kinds of the predicate (verbal and nominal; simple and compound), the copula, the dash, the subject, subjectless sentences, naming sentence, word-sentence, unextended and extended sentences. According to the tale “Oqilona javob”, Husayn Boyqaro pointed to his head and Navoiy pointed to his tongue: “What brings trouble to the head?” — “The tongue.” The pupils admire it. The tale urges care with the tongue; a fitting proverb is “Aytilgan so‘z — otilgan o‘q”. In analysis, find the predicate first, then the subject and secondary parts.

Worked examples
Analysis: “Ukam tez yugurdi” — ukam: subject; yugurdi: simple verbal predicate; tez: hol. Extended sentence with a subject.
Analysis: “Maqsadimiz — yurtni obod qilish” — subject: maqsadimiz; compound nominal predicate; dash because the predicate is a verbal noun.
Class activity

Analysis relay: two teams analyze the board sentence line by line; the faster, error-free team wins.
