GoalTest on oral speech skill: giving a prepared speech and listening.
New words
speech · nutqpronunciation · talaffuzcontentment · qanoatpatience · sabr
Explanation
In the oral test every pupil prepares a short speech on a chosen topic and gives it in front of the class. Topics include moral notions such as contentment, desire and patience. Before speaking, a plan is made with an introduction, a main part and a conclusion. While speaking, pronunciation must be clear, the voice moderate, and pauses and intonation kept. Listeners note pronunciation and style errors and give an impartial opinion at the end. Use literary words instead of dialect words in the speech.
Worked examples
Plan sample: 1) what contentment is; 2) the quality of a content person; 3) the harm of wastefulness; 4) conclusion.
Pronunciation: it is said “qiz”, not “kiz”; “o‘rik”, not “orik”.
Class activity
Listener card: the pupil writes one good point and one point to correct in a friend’s speech.
Practice
