Active voice

Textbook: p. 43
GoalIdentify the active-voice verb and its doer.
New words
active voice · aniq nisbatdefinite doer · aniq bajaruvchisubject · egaverb stem · fe’l asosi
Explanation

A verb form that expresses an action or state with a definite doer is in the active voice. The active voice has no special suffix: the verb stem itself expresses it (yozdi, ochdi, kuldi). The doer of an active verb usually becomes the subject: Bola xat yozdi (The child wrote a letter). Here the doer (bola) is named. All verbs that have taken no other voice suffix are in the active voice.

Worked examples
The woman swept the house. — doer: ayol (woman).
The farmers picked cotton. — doer: dehqonlar (farmers).
Class activity

“Who did it?”: the teacher reads a sentence and children find the doer, confirming the active voice.
