Explanation

A descriptive text describes the features and qualities of an object, place, person or landscape. It answers the question “What is it like?”. It uses many adjectives and similes so the reader can picture the thing described. The description should be orderly: first the overall look, then the parts, or from top to bottom, from far to near. Descriptive texts are most common in literature.

Worked examples
“Our garden”. Behind our house there is a small garden. Tall apricot trees and low cherry trees grow in it. In spring the trees are covered in white blossom and the air fills with a pleasant scent.
Simile: white blossoms fell like snow (qordek).
Class activity

“Describe without naming”: a child describes something in the room without saying its name and classmates guess what it is.
