Nouns for persons

Textbook: p. 120
GoalIdentify and group nouns for persons.
New words
person noun · shaxs otiprofession · kasbrelative · qarindosh
Explanation

Nouns that answer the question kim? (who?) and name people are person nouns. They divide into groups: professions (shifokor — doctor, o‘qituvchi — teacher), kinship (ona — mother, aka — elder brother, buvi — grandmother), nationality (o‘zbek, qozoq — Kazakh), and sex and age (qiz — girl, chol — old man). A person noun can be proper (Dilshod) or common (bola — child). Names of nationalities are lowercase: o‘zbek, tojik, ingliz. Person nouns take plural, possessive and case suffixes: shifokorlar, onamga (to my mother), o‘qituvchining (the teacher’s).

Worked examples
