Explanation

Nikolay Nikolaevich Nosov (1908–1976) was a Russian writer, the author of «Dunno» and funny stories for children. In «Федина задача» Fedya comes home from the skating rink, wants to do his homework alone and turns on the TV “to make it more fun”. The songs of a concert and his thoughts about them distract him from the problem: he reads it twenty times and still does not understand it. In the end Fedya turns off the TV and goes to his friend Yura to ask him to explain the problem. The story humorously shows that we must treat our lessons with attention.

Worked examples
«Федина задача» (a short retelling). «Федя пришёл домой с катка и решил, что никто не помешает ему сделать уроки. Он включил телевизор и стал слушать песни. Песни мешали ему думать о задаче. Федя читал задачу много раз, но ничего не понял. Тогда он отключил телевизор и отправился к другу за помощью.» (Fedya came home from the skating rink and decided that nobody would disturb his homework. He turned on the TV and began to listen to songs. The songs kept him from thinking about the problem. Fedya read the problem many times but understood nothing. Then he switched off the TV and set off to a friend for help.)
