Adjectives and pronouns in the genitive

In the genitive an adjective or pronoun agrees with its noun. Masculine and neuter take «-ого/-его»: «нового мяча, синего костюма, большого окна, моего брата, этого дня». Feminine takes «-ой/-ей»: «новой формы, синей куртки, моей сестры, этой книги». The plural takes «-ых/-их» for all genders: «новых кроссовок, синих брюк, наших друзей, этих книг». After «ш, ч, ж, щ» an unstressed ending is «-его/-ей»: «хорошего, хорошей»; a stressed one is «-ого/-ой»: «большого, большой»; the plural always has «-их»: «хороших, больших». In «-ого» the letter «г» is pronounced like «в»: «нового» sounds like «ново-во». Questions: «какого? какой? каких?», «чьего? чьей? чьих?».
