Working with a text and vocabulary
Textbook: pp. 33–34
GoalExpress an opinion about a text and observe sound replacement in words.
New words
goal, aim · maqsadhardship · mashaqqatdream, wish · orzupatience · sabr
Explanation
In this lesson we work on a text about aims and happiness. First read the text and find its main idea, then choose a title. Find the meanings of unfamiliar words (maqsad, mashaqqat, sabr) in the dictionary. Also try replacing one sound in the words of the text to form a new word. Simple pairs are convenient: bor — bol, el — ek, yoz — yoy. Such practice strengthens the meaning-distinguishing function of sounds.
Worked examples
Text: «Dilfuza va kamon» (Dilfuza and the bow). Dilfuza wanted to learn archery. At first her arrows missed the target, but she was patient and practised every day. A month later she hit the target for the first time and burst out laughing with joy. The hard road towards a goal brings happiness too.
Titles: «Sabr — baxt kaliti» (Patience is the key to happiness), «Nishonga yo‘l» (The way to the target).
Class activity
“My aim”: each child writes one aim in a sentence and says what they will do to reach it.
Practice
1
How did Dilfuza reach her aim?
By being patient and practising every day.
2
Give the meaning of the word «mashaqqat».
Hardship, hard labour.
3
Write a new word by replacing one sound: bor, el, yoz.
Bor — bol; el — ek; yoz — yoy (other correct variants are possible).
4
Why is patience needed on the way to a goal? Write your idea.
Because the result does not come at once; a patient person learns from mistakes and finally reaches the goal.
