Explanation
Case suffixes are added to nouns: -ning, -ni, -ga (-ka, -qa), -da, -dan. Together with the main case, which has no suffix, there are six cases. A case suffix joins the noun to another word in the sentence, and the noun answers the question of that case. For example: qush – qushning (Nimaning?), qushni (Nimani?), qushga (Nimaga?), qushda (Nimada?), qushdan (Nimadan?).
Worked examples
daryo (river) – daryoning, daryoni, daryoga, daryoda, daryodan.
Biz daryoga bordik. (We went to the river.) Biz daryodan qaytdik. (We came back from the river.) Bolalar daryoni sevadi. (Children love the river.)
Class activity
“House of cases”: six houses are drawn on the board; children add suffixes to a given noun and put each form in the right house.
