Making phrases with cardinal and ordinal numerals (2)

Textbook: Part 3, pp. 84–86
GoalMake phrases with counting and ordinal numerals (2): with units of measure and time.
New words
metre · metrkilogram · kilogrammhour · soatweek · hafta
Explanation

A counting numeral forms phrases with units of measure and time and answers qancha?: uch metr (three metres), ikki kilogramm (two kilograms), besh soat (five hours), to‘rt hafta (four weeks). An ordinal numeral shows order: uchinchi hafta (the third week), beshinchi soat (the fifth hour). In such phrases the unit name stays singular: ikki kilogramm (not “ikki kilogrammlar”).

Worked examples
Qancha un? – uch kilogramm un (three kilograms of flour). Qancha vaqt? – ikki soat (two hours).
Nechanchi hafta? – ikkinchi hafta (the second week).
Class activity

“Choose a unit”: the teacher says a number (to‘rt), children add a unit (to‘rt metr, to‘rt soat) and use it in a sentence.

Practice
1
Make a phrase: “besh” + a unit.
2
Which is amount and which is order? ikki soat / ikkinchi soat
3
Correct the mistake: uch metrlar.
