Explanation

We remember: an adjective answers qanday? and qanaqa? (shirin olma – a sweet apple). A numeral answers nechta? qancha? nechanchi? (beshta olma – five apples, uchinchi olma – the third apple). A counting numeral shows amount, an ordinal numeral shows order. An ordinal numeral written in digits takes a hyphen: 3-sinf. The noun after a numeral is not plural: ikkita kitob.

Worked examples
Bog‘da ikkita baland daraxt o‘sadi. (Two tall trees grow in the garden.) – ikkita: nechta? – numeral; baland: qanday? – adjective; daraxt – noun.
To‘rtinchi xonada keng stol bor. (There is a wide table in the fourth room.) – to‘rtinchi: nechanchi? – ordinal numeral; keng: qanday? – adjective.
Class activity

“Word-class race”: groups find adjectives and numerals in a sentence and say their questions; correct answers earn points.

Practice
1
Separate the adjective and the numeral: Uchta qizil gul ochildi.
2
Write with a digit: beshinchi sinf.
3
Correct the mistake: to‘rtta kitoblar.
