Verb-forming suffixes: -la, -illa

Textbook: Part 4, pp. 64–65
GoalMake verbs with -la and -illa; verbs imitating sounds.
New words
to tap · taqillato buzz · g‘uvillato whimper, hum · g‘ingillato yap · vaqilla
Explanation

The suffix -illa often forms verbs imitating sounds: taq + illa = taqilla (tap), g‘uv + illa = g‘uvilla (buzz), g‘ing + illa = g‘ingilla (whimper), vaq + illa = vaqilla (yap). These verbs also answer Nima qildi?. The suffix -la forms verbs from nouns or adjectives: oq + la = oqla (whiten). Verb-forming suffixes change a word’s meaning and class.

Worked examples
Raindrops are tapping on the window. Bees are buzzing over a flower. The puppy whimpered, unable to find its mother.
We whitewashed the wall. Oq (white) → oqla (whiten).
