Explanation

One person or thing is said in the singular: Kim? o‘quvchi (pupil); Nima? kitob (book). Several persons or things are said in the plural: Kimlar? o‘quvchilar (pupils); Nimalar? kitoblar (books). So nouns answer Kim? Nima? in the singular and Kimlar? Nimalar? in the plural.

Worked examples
Kim? — o‘quvchi; Kimlar? — o‘quvchilar. Nima? — kitob; Nimalar? — kitoblar.
“Border guards”. The border guards protect the nation’s border. They stand watchful day and night. On the watchtower a sentry looks around. We respect the border guards.
Class activity

“One – many”: the teacher says “one” and a noun, and children say “many” and its plural (bola – bolalar).
