Working with verb meanings

Textbook: Part 4, pp. 41–42
GoalWork out a verb’s meaning and form: question and time of action.
New words
to determine · aniqlamoqto perform · bajarmoqnow · hozirbefore · avval
Explanation

To analyse a verb we find its question. Nima qildi? — the action was done (chizdi, drew). Nima qilyapti? — happening now (chizyapti). Nima qiladi? — will happen or is a habit (chizadi). Other words in the sentence make the verb’s meaning clear: rasm chizdi (drew a picture), uy chizdi (drew a house). In the sentence the verb is the predicate.

Worked examples
Yesterday Madina drew a picture. Now she is drawing a flower. Tomorrow she will draw a tree.
The predicate gets two lines: Madina rasm chizdi.
Class activity
