Explanation

A letter starts with a greeting: Hurmatli ustoz! (Dear teacher!). Then we say what we want to write about. At the end come a wish and a signature (name, date). In a letter to a teacher we respectfully say «Siz» (you, polite). Letters are lively when full of verbs: o‘rgatdingiz (you taught), tushuntirdingiz (you explained), yordam berdingiz (you helped).

Worked examples
“A letter to a teacher”. Dear Dilfuza (teacher)! I want to thank you for the school year. You taught us to write beautifully. You patiently explained what we did not understand. Now I read more books. I wish you health and luck. Shaxzod. 12 May.
