Explanation

The subject and the predicate give the main idea of a sentence. But a sentence also has other words that make the idea clearer and fuller. They are called secondary parts (ikkinchi darajali bo‘laklar). They link to the subject or predicate, widen the meaning and answer their own questions: Qanday? (What kind?) Qayerda? (Where?) Qachon? (When?) Nimani? (What?). We underline them with a wavy line.

Worked examples
Katta bolalar hovlida futbol o‘ynadi. (The big children played football in the yard.) Main parts: bolalar (subject), o‘ynadi (predicate). Secondary: katta (what kind of children?), hovlida (where?), futbol (what?).
Mehribon buvim bizga shirin non yopdi. (My kind grandmother baked us tasty bread.) Main parts: buvim, yopdi. Secondary: mehribon, bizga, shirin, non.
Class activity

“Let’s enrich the sentence”: the teacher writes “Qush uchdi.” (The bird flew.) Children ask questions and add words: What kind of bird? Where did it fly? When? The sentence grows longer and richer.
