Explanation

A verb that shows the action was or is done is an affirmative verb: yozdi, keladi, o‘qiyapti. A verb that shows the action was not done is a negative verb: yozmadi, kelmaydi, o‘qimayapti. The negative is made by adding the suffix -ma to the verb base (asos).

Worked examples
yozdi — yozmadi (wrote — did not write); keladi — kelmaydi (comes — does not come); o‘qiyapti — o‘qimayapti (is reading — is not reading).
I came home. My brother did not come home.
Class activity

“Yes — no”: the teacher says an affirmative verb, children say its negative (bordi — bormadi).

Practice
1
Write the negative: sakradi.
2
