Explanation

Any sentence asking a question ends with a question mark. If the author doubts some information or is not sure of it, he or she may put a question mark in brackets after that word to warn the reader: “U 1998-yilda (?) tug‘ilgan”. The exclamation mark is put when a sentence carries strong feeling – joy, surprise, anger – and also when it gives a command, a request or a wish. It is also put after addresses at the start of a sentence said with strong feeling and after word-sentences such as ha, yo‘q, xo‘p, uzr, mayli, xayr, salom. If a thought is said with extremely strong feeling, up to three exclamation marks may be put in a row. The question and exclamation marks sometimes come together (?!).

Worked examples
Bugun kutubxonaga borasanmi? / Tezroq yuring! / Xayr! Yana ko‘rishguncha!
Nahotki sen bunga ishonding?! (question and exclamation together) / Voy, qanday chiroyli manzara!
Class activity

“Voice and mark”: pupils say the same sentence as a question, a command and with excitement; the class finds the matching mark (?, !, .).
