Suffixes that link words

Textbook: Part 1, pp. 58–61
GoalKnow the suffixes that link words and tell them from word-forming ones.
New words
linking suffix · bog‘lovchi qo‘shimchasentence · gapto connect · bog‘lamoqquestion · so‘roq
Explanation

The linking suffixes are -ning, -ni, -ga, -da, -dan. They do not make new words; they join a word to another word in the sentence. For example: bolalar bog‘da o‘ynadi – the suffix -da joins bog‘da to o‘ynadi. A word-forming suffix changes the meaning of the word; a linking suffix does not.

Worked examples
Opam gulni sug‘ordi. (My sister watered the flower.) Biz maktabga bordik. (We went to school.) Singlim uydan chiqdi. (My little sister left the house.) Linking: -ni, -ga, -dan.
gulchi (florist) – word-forming (-chi); gulga (to the flower) – linking (-ga).
Class activity

“Which suffix?”: the teacher says a word (gulga, gulli, gulzor, gulda); children raise a hand for “word-forming” or “linking”.
