Explanation
Nouns in the directional case answer Kimga? Nimaga? Qayerga? It is made by adding -ga (-ka, -qa) to the noun. Normally -ga is added: maktabga, bolaga, tog‘ga. If the word ends in k, -ka is added; if it ends in q, -qa: yurakka, qishloqqa. The directional case shows where or to whom the action is directed.
Worked examples
Kimga? – bolaga (to the child). Nimaga? – kitobga (to the book). Qayerga? – maktabga (to school), tog‘ga (to the mountain), qishloqqa (to the village).
Opam ko‘ylakka tugma tikdi. (My sister sewed a button on the shirt.) Biz qishloqqa mehmonga bordik. (We went to the village as guests.)
Class activity
“Where to?”: the teacher names a place and children make a sentence with the directional case: “Men … ga boraman”.
