Suffixes that link words: consolidation

Textbook: Part 2, pp. 68–69
GoalFind and mark the linking suffixes in a text.
New words
guest · mehmongate · darvozato welcome · kutib olmoqthank you · rahmat
Explanation

To find the linking suffixes in a text we ask a question about each word. If the answering word ends in -ning, -ni, -ga, -da or -dan, we underline that suffix. Another suffix may come before the linking suffix: mehmonlarga — mehmon (base), -lar (plural), -ga (linking suffix).

Worked examples
“Guests”. Guests came to our school. We welcomed them at the gate. The guests entered our classroom. They saw our work and were pleased. At the end of the lesson we thanked the guests.
Linking suffixes in the text: maktabimizga (-ga), ularni (-ni), darvozada (-da), bizning (-ning), ishlarimizni (-ni), mehmonlarga (-ga).
Class activity

“Suffix hunters”: children read the text and raise a hand when they see a linking suffix, then say the word and its question.

Practice
1

2
