Base and related words: consolidation

Textbook: Part 2, pp. 48–50
GoalConsolidate knowledge of base and related words: true-false tasks and making sentences.
New words
true · rostfalse · yolg‘onknowledge · bilimmistake · xato
Explanation

Let’s check the rules. True: related words have a common part. True: the common part is the base. False: related words are alike only in meaning — they must be alike in both form and meaning. One sentence can also use several related words: Bilimli bola bilimsizlarga bilim ulashadi. (An educated child shares knowledge with the uneducated.)

Worked examples
tuz (salt) — tuzli (salty) — tuzsiz (saltless) — tuzla (to salt); bilim (knowledge) — bilimli — bilimsiz — bilimdon (well-informed); xato (mistake) — xatosiz (flawless) — xatoli (with errors). Bases: tuz, bilim, xato.
Mazali sho‘rva tuzli ham, tuzsiz ham bo‘lishi mumkin; biz tuzni me’yorida solamiz. (A tasty soup can be salty or unsalted; we add salt in moderation.)
Class activity

“True or false?”: the teacher reads rules. If true children stand, if false they sit. Then they correct the false rule.

Practice
1
True or false? “The common part of related words is called the base.”
2
True or false? “Ko‘p (many) and ko‘prik (bridge) are related words.”
3
Write two words with the base tuz.
