Base and related words: finding the base

Textbook: Part 2, pp. 46–47
GoalFind related words in a text and set apart words whose bases differ.
New words
to set apart · ajratmoqgardener · bog‘bonbouquet · guldastato observe · kuzatmoq
Explanation

Some words look alike in letters but differ in meaning. They are not related. For example kuz, kuzgi (autumn, autumn’s) are related, but kuzatmoq (to observe) means something else. Bola, bolalik, bolalar are related; bolta (axe) is not. We check related words by both form and meaning.

Worked examples
“Meeting a gardener”. Today a gardener came to our class. He told us about flowers. He showed how to make a bouquet. We went to the flower garden. The children watered the flowers. We thanked the gardener.
Related words in the text: gullar, guldasta, gulzor (base: gul). The base of bog‘bon is bog‘.
Class activity

“Find the odd one”: four words are written on the board. Children find the word that is not related and explain why (for example: bola, bolalik, bolalar, bolta).

Practice

2
Find the word that is not related: kuz, kuzgi, kuzatmoq.
3
