D. N. Mamin-Sibiryak: the story «Приёмыш»
Dmitry Narkisovich Mamin-Sibiryak (1852–1912): the writer’s real surname is Mamin, and «Сибиряк» is his pen name. He was born in the Urals in a factory settlement, in the family of a priest and a village teacher. His parents taught him to love books from childhood; his father spent his last money on books and called them “the best friends”. He studied at the Perm theological seminary and studied law at Petersburg University but did not complete it. He wrote over 130 stories and tales for children and about children. In «Приёмыш» old Taras lives in a guard’s hut on Lake Svetloye. He takes in the lone cygnet whose parents hunters shot. The swan, the dog Sobolko and Taras live together. In autumn a flock of swans lands; Priyomysh grows homesick, Taras lets him go, and the swan flies off, thanking him for «хлеб-соль».
A table with two columns, «Соболько» and «Лебедь». In the first write the dog’s attitude to the swan («заворчит», «воет, когда лебедь уплывает»), in the second the swan’s attitude to the dog («сначала боялся, потом привык»).
