Объяснение

Negative pronouns are formed with the prefixes «ни-» and «не-»: «никто, ничто, никакой, нисколько» and «некого, нечего». A sentence with a «ни-» pronoun also has «не» before the verb (double negation): «Никто не пришёл. Я ничего не знаю». The «не-» pronouns («некого, нечего, некому, нечем, не о ком») cannot be the subject and have no nominative; they mean “there is nobody/nothing to ...”, the verb is an infinitive and the person is in the dative: «Мне некого спросить. Ему нечего делать». With a preposition the pronoun is split: «ни с кем, не с кем, ни о чём, не о чем». In «не-» pronouns the stress falls on «не»: «не′кого, не′чего»; in «ни-» pronouns on the last syllable: «никого′, ничего′».

Примеры
“Дождливый день” (A rainy day). «Брат уехал, и мне не с кем играть. Читать нечего: все книги я уже прочитал. На улице холодно, поэтому я никуда не иду. Никто не звонит, ничего не происходит.» (My brother has left, so I have nobody to play with. There is nothing to read: I have read all the books. It is cold outside, so I am not going anywhere. Nobody calls, nothing happens.)
Table: «кого? — никого′ / не′кого», «кому? — никому′ / не′кому», «кем? — нике′м / не′кем», «о ком? — ни о ко′м / не′ о ком», «чего? — ничего′ / не′чего».
Работа в классе

“No, no, no”. Answer your partner’s questions only with negatives: «Ты кого-нибудь ждёшь?» — «Никого не жду». Whoever laughs loses.

Упражнения
1
Answer negatively: «Ты кого-нибудь ждёшь?», «О чём ты думаешь?», «Кому ты звонил?»
2
«ни» or «не»: «Мне ... с кем поговорить», «Он ... с кем не поговорил», «Нам ... о чем спорить».
3
Make negative: «Все пришли. Всё понял. Всем помог».
4
Why is there no extra «не» before the verb in «Мне некого спросить»?
