Final finishing of the doll’s clothes
Textbook: p. 183
GoalKnow the final finishing of the doll’s clothes: fastening, trousers and decoration.
New words
fastening · taqilmaloop of thread · havoyi halqasmall button · tugmachado‘ppi (embroidered cap) · do‘ppi
Explanation
When the dress is finished it is cleaned of loose threads. For the back fastening two thread loops are sewn on one side along the notch, and small buttons are sewn firmly on the other side to match the loops. Buttons must be sewn on strongly or they may come off and be swallowed by small children. A tape is passed through the trouser waist, flowery tape is sewn on the hems instead of trim, loose threads are cut and the trousers are put on the doll. The doll’s hair is braided, and a square or round do‘ppi can be put on it, or a scarf wrapped. When finished, count the tools and tidy the workplace.
Worked examples
With 2 loops at the back, 2 buttons are needed.
A doll’s do‘ppi can be decorated with coloured thread and tape.
