Explanation
Men, sen, u, biz, siz, ular are personal pronouns (kishilik olmoshlari). The singular ones (men, sen, u) answer kim?, the plural ones (biz, siz, ular) answer kimlar? A personal pronoun is used in place of a noun and saves us from repeating it: Sardor keldi. U kitob o‘qidi. (Sardor came. He read a book.) (U – Sardor.)
Worked examples
Men maktabga boraman. Sen qayerga borasan? (I am going to school. Where are you going?)
Ular bog‘da o‘ynayapti. (They are playing in the garden.) – ular: kimlar? – personal pronoun.
Class activity
“Swap the pronoun”: the teacher says a sentence (Dilnoza kuyladi) and children put a pronoun in place of the noun (U kuyladi).
