Making phrases with cardinal and ordinal numerals (1)

Textbook: Part 3, pp. 81–83
GoalMake phrases with counting and ordinal numerals (1).
New words
phrase · so‘z birikmasiamount · miqdororder · tartibcombination · birikma
Explanation

A numeral joins a noun and forms a phrase. A counting numeral shows the amount: ikkita tuxum (two eggs), sakkiz soat (eight hours). An ordinal numeral shows the order: ikkinchi dars (the second lesson), to‘rtinchi uy (the fourth house). In the phrase the noun is the main word and the numeral describes it. The noun is not plural: yetti kun (not “yetti kunlar”).

Worked examples
oltita qalam (six pencils) – amount; oltinchi qalam (the sixth pencil) – order.
uch kun (three days) – uchinchi kun (the third day)
Class activity

“Phrase chain”: the teacher names a noun (uy), children add two phrases: uchta uy, uchinchi uy.

Practice
1
Make two phrases with “daftar”: one with a counting and one with an ordinal numeral.
2
Which phrase shows amount: to‘rtinchi stul / to‘rtta stul?
3
Correct the mistake: sakkiz kunlar.
