How words are linked in a sentence

Textbook: Part 2, pp. 36–39
GoalKnow that words in a sentence are linked by meaning and that links are found with questions.
New words
link, connection · bog‘lanishpencil · qalampicture · rasmquestion · so‘roq
Explanation

Words in a sentence are linked by meaning. We find which word is linked to which with questions. We start from the predicate: Nimani chizdi? (Drew what?) Nima bilan chizdi? (With what?) Then we ask about the nouns: Qanday rasm? Qanday qalam? The word that answers a question is linked to the word we asked about.

Worked examples
Ukam rangli qalam bilan chiroyli rasm chizdi. (My little brother drew a beautiful picture with a coloured pencil.) Nimani chizdi? — rasm. Qanday rasm? — chiroyli. Nima bilan chizdi? — qalam bilan. Qanday qalam? — rangli.
Onam bozordan yangi sabzavot oldi. (Mum bought fresh vegetables at the market.) Qayerdan oldi? — bozordan. Nimani oldi? — sabzavot. Qanday sabzavot? — yangi.
Class activity

“Chain of links”: a sentence is written on the board. Children draw arrows between words to show which word is linked to which and write the question.

Practice

2
