Choosing verbs that fit the sentence: practice

Textbook: Part 4, pp. 39–40
GoalUse opposite and close verbs correctly in sentences.
New words
to open · ochmoqto close · yopmoqto enter · kirmoqto go out · chiqmoq
Explanation

Some verbs have opposite meanings: ochdi — yopdi (opened — closed), kirdi — chiqdi (entered — went out), olib keldi — olib ketdi (brought — took away), yoqdi — o‘chirdi (switched on — switched off). Some have close meanings: qaradi — tikildi (looked — stared), gapirdi — so‘zladi (spoke — talked). We choose according to the sentence: if we change «Eshikni ochdi» to «Eshikni yopdi», the meaning turns the other way.

Worked examples

In the morning we open the window, in the evening we close it.
