Main parts of the sentence: in a text
Textbook: Part 2, pp. 11–13
GoalFind the subject and predicate in a short text; write animal nicknames with a capital letter.
New words
nickname · laqabflock · suruvshepherd · cho‘poncapital letter · bosh harf
Explanation
In each sentence of a text we find the main parts: first we ask about the predicate, then about the subject. Nicknames given to animals are written with a capital letter: the dog’s name is Boybo‘ri, the cat’s name is Momiq.
Worked examples
“The shepherd and his dog”. The shepherd Anvar looks after eight sheep. He has a dog. The dog’s name is Boybo‘ri. Boybo‘ri watches the flock. He senses wolves from far away. In the evening the shepherd drives the sheep into the pen. Boybo‘ri lies by the door.
Boybo‘ri suruvni kuzatadi. (Boybo‘ri watches the flock.) Subject: Boybo‘ri. Predicate: kuzatadi.
