The noun

Explanation

A noun is the name of a person or thing. We ask it Kim? Kimlar? Nima? Nimalar? or Qayer? Nouns are used in the singular and plural. The plural is made with -lar: daraxt – daraxtlar. Names of people and places (Madina, Samarqand) begin with a capital letter.

Worked examples
Kim? – shifokor (doctor), qiz. Kimlar? – shifokorlar. Nima? – daftar. Nimalar? – daftarlar. Qayer? – maktab (school), bog‘ (garden).
Madina Samarqanddan kelgan mehmonlarni kutib oldi. (Madina welcomed the guests who came from Samarqand.) Madina and Samarqand begin with capitals.
Class activity

“House of nouns”: children sort written words into “Kim?” and “Nima?” columns, then change them to the plural.
