Respect your language

Textbook: Part 4, pp. 61–64
GoalExplain the importance of respecting the mother tongue.
New words
mother tongue · ona tililiteracy · savodspelling · imlorespect · hurmat
Explanation

The mother tongue is the first language we learned from our mother. Respecting it means respecting one’s own people. We speak and write correctly in our language and correct our mistakes. To be literate we learn rules and read a lot. In the poem in the textbook classmates laugh at a pupil who made a mistake, then he rereads the rule with respect for the mother tongue.

Worked examples
“My mother tongue”. I love my mother tongue. My mother sang me lullabies in it. At school I am learning to read and write in this language. If I make a mistake I reread the rule. When I grow up I shall know our language even better.
Spelling is writing correctly. Literacy is the knowledge of reading and writing.
Class activity
