Explanation
Speech is the way a person talks. Everybody likes a person who speaks beautifully. Ugly words hurt a person’s heart. A kind word softens the heart. In the story in the textbook a child goes to a shop with his grandfather and asks for a magic wand. There is no magic wand, but there are magic words.
Worked examples
“A magic word”. Laylo asked an aunt for bread. She said: “Give me bread!” The aunt was silent. Then Laylo said: “Please, give me bread, thank you!” The aunt smiled and gave the bread. Laylo understood the power of magic words.
Please, thank you and you’re welcome are magic words.
Class activity
“Basket of magic words”: children write a magic word on a card and put it in a basket.
