When road signs begin to speak
Textbook: Part 4, pp. 19–21
GoalKnow the meaning of road signs and the traffic light; follow road rules.
New words
traffic light · svetoforpedestrian · piyodadriver · haydovchisign · belgi
Explanation
Road signs and the traffic light set order on the road. Red means “Stop!”, yellow “Get ready”, green “Go”. Pedestrians cross the road only at a pedestrian crossing and on a green light. Near a school drivers slow down. In the poem in the textbook road signs speak about themselves.
Worked examples
“On the road”. Madina was on her way to school. At the roadside the traffic light was red. She stopped and watched the cars. The light turned green. Madina looked both ways and crossed the road. Near the school she saw the sign “Careful, children!” She understood the meaning of the sign.
Red means stop. Green means go.
