Golden autumn

Textbook: Part 2, pp. 71–73
GoalDescribe autumn; explain why it is called “golden autumn”.
New words
autumn · kuzfallen leaves · xazonhoarfrost · qirovblessing, gift (here: fruits of the earth) · ne’mat
Explanation

In autumn tree leaves turn yellow, red and orange, so we call it golden autumn. In this season the harvest is gathered, birds fly to warm countries and hoarfrost forms in the morning. The textbook has the poem “Kuz” (Autumn) by Shuhrat, where the poet describes the autumn orchard and speaks about a sapling. “Autumn’s gifts” are the fruits and vegetables that ripen in autumn.

Worked examples
“Golden autumn”. In autumn tree leaves turn yellow and red. The sun sheds golden-toned light, so we call this season golden autumn. Apples, pomegranates and grapes are gathered in the orchards. Cotton picking begins in the fields. In the morning hoarfrost appears on the grass. The birds fly away to warm countries.
Autumn’s gifts: apple, pomegranate, grape, pumpkin, cotton.
