sumalak (wheat-sprout dish) · sumalakhalim (wheat and meat dish) · halimkite · uchar varraksapling · ko‘chat
Explanation

At Navruz sumalak and halim are cooked. Sumalak is a sweet dish made from sprouted wheat. It is cooked by stirring all night. In these days saplings are planted, kites are flown and songs are sung. The tale “Qochoq bug‘doycha” (The runaway wheat grain) in the textbook is about how a wheat grain sprouts.

Worked examples
“Navruz night”. Mum cooked sumalak. The neighbouring women gathered and took turns stirring the pot. We sang songs. In the morning we shared the sumalak with everybody. Then with dad we planted a sapling. Navruz is a very pleasant holiday.
Sumalak is from wheat. Halim is from wheat and meat.
Class activity
