There is one mother, one Motherland
Textbook: Part 1, pp. 8–10
GoalRead a poem expressively; find rhyming words and words with similar meanings.
New words
mother · onabosom, embrace · bag‘irto protect, to cherish · asramoqrhyme · qofiya
Explanation
The textbook has the poem “Ona Vatan” (Mother Homeland) by Miltiqboy Xonnazarov. In it a child says he loves his mother and his homeland equally. Rhyming words end with the same sound, for example lola (tulip) – bola (child). We read a poem expressively, changing our voice.
Worked examples
“Two dear ones”. My mother gives me love. My homeland gives me a home. My mother cherishes me tenderly. My homeland takes me into its embrace. Both are unique and dear. I will look after both.
Rhyming pairs: lola – bola (tulip – child), tosh – bosh (stone – head), tuz – kuz (salt – autumn).
Class activity
