Explanation

Official documents are written in the official style: application, explanatory note, autobiography, certificate, power of attorney, act, minutes, invitation, character reference, report, announcement and others. The language demands objectivity, exactness, brevity and set formulas. Therefore it has no diminutive or affectionate forms, dialect words, figurative expressions, rhetorical questions or emotion. An application has the parts: to whom (recipient), from whom (sender), document name (ARIZA), text, appendix, date and signature. A document must carry a date and a signature, and its data must be written exactly.

Worked examples
Application text: «Meni 10-A sinfdan 10-B sinfga o‘tkazishingizni so‘rayman.» (“I ask you to transfer me from class 10-A to class 10-B.”) – objective, a set formula.
Wrong: «Iltimos, jon domla, meni o‘tkazib yuboring-a!» (“Please, dear teacher, do transfer me!”) – affection, exclamation and emotion do not suit the official style.
Class activity

“Document workshop”: each student writes a short application and a partner checks its parts and objectivity.

2
