Explanation

Question order: question word + did + subject + base form: “When did she begin boxing?” “How many fights did she win?” With be we do not need did: “Where was she born?” “How tall is she?” To give an opinion about whether a sport is for girls, boys or both: “I think chess is for both boys and girls.” “I agree.” / “I don’t agree because ...” Girls who do sport become healthy, strong and confident, and they make friends. An example is Oksana Chusovitina, a gymnast from Uzbekistan who has taken part in eight Olympic Games.

Worked examples
Fact file. Name: Dilfuza. Sport: swimming. She started when she was eight. Her coach taught her to breathe correctly. Last year she won two medals at the regional championship. She trains five times a week.
A: Is boxing a sport for girls? B: I think it’s for both. Girls are strong too. A: I don’t agree. It’s dangerous. B: Any sport can be dangerous without a good coach.

“Interview”: in pairs A plays a famous athlete (invented) and B asks 5 wh-questions (When / Where / How many ... ?).
