Explanation

To say where something is from: “Pizza comes from Italy.” “Kangaroos come from Australia.” “Diwali comes from India.” With plurals we use come: “Pandas come from China.” What can be seen in a place: “Kangaroos can be seen in Australia.” (can be + third form). Country – nationality – language: China – Chinese – Chinese; India – Indian – Hindi/English; Italy – Italian – Italian; Uzbekistan – Uzbek – Uzbek; Egypt – Egyptian – Arabic. Nationalities begin with capital letters. On our planet we are not alone: there are different peoples, animals and plants, and we respect one another’s cultures.

Worked examples
Plov comes from Central Asia, sushi comes from Japan and pasta comes from Italy. Camels can be seen in the Kyzylkum desert, and polar bears can be seen in the Arctic.
— Where does the festival of Holi come from? — It comes from India. — Which language do people speak there? — Hindi and English, and many others.
Class activity

“Where from?”: show picture cards (kangaroo, pizza, tornado); partners say “It comes from ...” and find the country.
